Introduced in 2019, the Patek Philippe Calatrava ref. 5212A-001 brought an entirely new complication to the manufacture’s collection with the debut of the Weekly Calendar. Housed in a stainless steel Calatrava-style case, the reference displays not only the day, date, and month, but also the current week number and day of the week through an ingenious mechanism developed from the self-winding caliber 26-330 S C. Its distinctive dial, featuring hand-written-style typography inspired by notes found in the Patek Philippe archives, gives the watch an unmistakable personality while remaining faithful to the timeless elegance of vintage watches.
This beautifully preserved full set example was sold in 2020, shortly after the model’s introduction. The combination of the warm silver opaline dial, blackened white gold hands, and polished stainless steel case offers a refreshing and unusual look in within the modern offerings from Patek Philippe. This early example represents one of Patek Philippe’s most innovative contemporary complications and one of the few modern Calatrava watches crafted in stainless steel.
