Produced from 1989 – 2002, the ref. 3979 was made in less than 100 examples. To date, approximately 29 yellow gold, three white gold and five platinum have appeared on the market. It is interesting to note that the presently offered example is movement number 1’904’002 meaning this is the third example made and one of the earliest examples of a ref. 3979 to exist. Movement 1’904,000 was never sold and is at the Patek Philippe Museum in Geneva.
This stunning example has its original Certificate of Origin showing it was first sold on October 25, 1989 direct from the Patek Philippe boutique in Geneva. It is also accompanied by a recent Extract from the Archives as well as its winding box, instructions and leather certificate wallet. This example remains serviced sealed from a recent (2022) mechanical service by Patek Philippe Geneva.
