PATEK PHILIPPE TWO-TONE CUSHION SHAPED WRISTWATCH
Early tonneau and cushion watches are a subset of collecting that only a few astute collectors focus on from the Patek Philippe community. Although on the smaller side, these works of art exemplify the early development of the wristwatch before the era of ’round’ wristwatches that became and remain popular ever since the early 1930s.
This example features an exquisite dial that was described in detail in the Extract from the Archives: ‘white gold-plated dial, decorated centre with polished periphery, engraved matte Breguet numerals’. The dial also features the name of the retailer, E. Gubelin, which was engraved by the same hand at the time of its production. The case back is further signed E. Gubelin and is extremely well preserved for the age.
