In the world of Patek Philippe watch collecting, driver’s watches are sought after for their rarity, beauty, elegance, and functionality. The ref. 524 is known for its specially designed asymmetrical case that ergonomically allows the wearer to check the time while they are driving. This reference is extremely rare as they were only manufactured for four years, 1936 to 1940 with cases made by Staffelbach and Rotach based in Carouge, Switzerland. Less than two dozen examples are known to have survived in rose gold. What’s even more coveted is that this particular watch features a black dial, only four of which are known to exist with this combination of rose gold with black dial fully confirmed on its Extract from the Archives.
