One of the most misunderstood and fascinating modern vintage watches is the ref. 5099RG. Made from 2000-2008, this unusual, two-tone watch from the Gondolo family was inspired by a vintage Patek Philippe in the Patek Philippe Museum (Inv-P-1329) with a gilt metal dial with painted, upright Dauphine hands. With a case made of 52 pieces, this reference has one of the most complicated cases made by Patek Philippe during this era. No surprise, it is also the reference that inspired the first Only Watch submission by Patek Philippe, the unique ref. 5099/101-RG-001. This extremely early example of the reference is one of the first ever made with a production noted on the archive in 1999 pre-dating the official release in 2000.
