PATEK PHILIPPE YELLOW GOLD TANK WRISTWATCH REF. 492J
The elegant case of this ref. 492J was made by Staffelbach & Rotach for Patek Philippe. As a case design we do not see often, one can instantly admire the novelty of the long, curved ridged lines of this larger-sized tank-style watch. It is as stunning on the wrist today as it would have been in the 1930s. The family of references inspired by this watch can be found in the references 417, 486, 490, 491 and 514. This is Art Deco at its finest and the watch also has a beautifully preserved, applied Breguet numeral dial. The Extract from the Archives confirms this Breguet dial as well as its original date of sale: December 20, 1938.
