THE ‘ERSKINE’ PATEK PHILIPPE POCKET WATCH, RETAILED BY TIFFANY & CO.
The story of the man who originally owned this watch is as fascinating as the watch itself. Albert Russel Erskine (1871-1933) was an Alabama-born business executive that famously led Studebaker Corporation from 1915-1933. As a pioneer in the automotive industry, he was instrumental in transitioning from the horse and buggy era to the modern era of automotive production. He is immortalized in his namesake car, the ‘Erskine Six’ that was released in 1927 and marketed as the ‘Little Aristocrat of Motordom’.
This watch is a fine example of Patek Philippe’s high level of technical and aesthetic mastery. The detail in the hand engraving on the case is unsurpassed. The dial work is the ultimate expression of Stern Frères handmade craftsmanship in gold, complete with the bespoke Tiffany & Co. engraved and enameled signature.
