PATEK PHILIPPE YELLOW POCKET WATCH
Fresh-to-market and preserved in new-old-stock condition, this pocket watch is a time capsule from 85 years ago. When we first saw the Extract from the Archives, we were sure it was a mistake — a ref. 605 is commonly and correctly considered the ultimate World Time pocket watch reference. However, the ref. 605 was also the identifying reference number of a rare, time-only pocket watch that does not resurface often. This time-only ref. 605 was made from 1930 through the early 1950s. It was available in 18K yellow, pink, and two-tone as well as platinum. This early, yellow gold example features the classic Patek Philippe silvered dial with applied pointed batons. A close inspection of the watch reveals a literally perfect, unrestored dial. For those studying what an unrestored dial from the 1930s should look like, this is the specimen to study under high magnification. The case and movement are also unrestored. This is the benchmark of condition to which all vintage Patek Philippe watches should be compared.
