PATEK PHILIPPE YELLOW GOLD AND MINIATURE ENAMEL PENDANT WATCH
Ladies’ pendant watches by Patek Philippe are incredible value, especially those featuring rare handcrafts from the manufacture’s early years. Made with traditional techniques, the crafts of miniature enameling, jewel setting, and engraving are exhibited at the highest levels.
This particular piece features an impressive cross section of all the most revered traditional crafts. First, the art of engraving is represented by an impressive repoussé-style case depicting Hercules and his first wife Megara. When this outer case hinges open, an impressive dial is revealed featuring red Dauphine numerals, a feature very rarely seen in the world of Patek Philippe. The Louis XV hands further delight under high magnification with their subtle details and hand-crafted masterwork. However the greatest surprise is discreetly hidden on the inner case back. A masterpiece of miniature enameling is revealed presenting a trio of cherubs, one plump white-winged little cherub with a horn, a pensive, purple-winged angelic cherub, and finally an intensively focused, pink-winged drummer boy beating his drum. The pink and purple cotton candy clouds highlight the depth of the enamelist art. The surround of the miniature enamel is a deep red enamel over engine turning further set with diamonds. This watch is accompanied by its original pendant, period case, extra crystal, and hidden within the inside silk of the presentation case we found the original Certificate of Origin. All in all, this is a museum worthy piece that literally encapsulates the history of Patek Philippe craftsmanship.
