PATEK PHILIPPE WHITE GOLD SELF-WINDING REF. 5089G WITH MINIATURE ENAMEL DIAL ‘TRANSATLANTIQUE’
In 2014, Patek Philippe first presented the ref. 5089 as part of the Rare Handicraft collection of watches. The larger size (38 mm) of the self-winding ref. 5089 was the perfect platform to present a larger cloisonné dial to showcase one of the most aesthetically pleasing of the traditional arts. This example is from the Transatlantic series and depicts a steamship arriving in New York City. The deco-style design of the boat is bold as the smokestacks power the ship into New York harbor. The details of the waves in enamel are stunning as well as the the smoke billowing in the air as the massive boat approaches lower Manhattan. These cloisonné watches were produced in exceptionally small numbers and represent some of the finest traditional craftsmanship produced in the 21st century. For the collector looking for something special, very unusual, and literally in untouched condition, your boat just arrived.
