PATEK PHILIPPE ‘TEXTURED TANK’ REF. 3553J
Introduced in 1968 and produced through to the early 1980s, the ref. 3553 was made in a variety of different styles in 18k yellow or white gold. The cases were made by Atelier Réunis, the casemaker fully owned by Patek Philippe.
This example features a ‘bark finish’ on the case and dial in the style of Gilbert Albert. Like his Ricochet collection from the 1960s, the textures of this labor-intensive decorating technique make this watch a handmade, unique work of art.
This example features its original box and papers. It was first sold at the Patek Philippe Salon in Geneva. Furthermore, it features one of the earliest known Patek Philippe folding clasps.
