The Golden Ellipse ref. 3634 captures the spirit of the 70s in its most beautiful form. From 1971 through the early 1980s, it was one of the largest vintage Ellipse wristwatches ever made by Patek Philippe. Unlike the ref. 3605, the ref. 3634 does not have a date. The distinctive stepped cases were made by the celebrated case maker Favres Perret, the same maker that made the Nautilus cases. The ref. 3634 was among the first Ellipse references to utilize the caliber 28-255C, the exact same caliber later used in the Nautilus ref. 3700/1.Â
This example features its original box and hangtag and the dial featuring the Iraqi Eagle and signature of its ruler at the time. Favored as presentation watches, these watches were given as gifts to friends of the ruling Iraqi regime. Complete with a white 18K white gold Ellipse buckle, this watch represents a little slice of history and a wearable work of art from Patek Philippe.
