PATEK PHILIPPE ‘RICOCHET’ POCKET WATCH REF. 788/4J
The reference 788/4J was part of the Ricochet collection, the personal project of the famous jewelry and watch designer Gilbert Albert. In 1955, Mr. Albert was hired as the workshop director of Patek Philippe when he was 25 years old. During his eight years at Patek Philippe he pushed the envelope of Patek Philippe’s mid-century design with his nature-inspired creations as seen with the Ricochet collection and the futuristic designs of his asymmetrical wristwatches.
Within the ref. 788 family, there were four different styles: the ref. 788J, ref. 788/1J, ref. 788/2J, ref. 788/3J, and the presently offered watch, the ref. 788/4J. This example is not only unusually shaped, it features a hand engraved dial with concentric radiating circular pattern that can only be described as mesmerizing!
