PATEK PHILIPPE $10 USD COIN WATCH REF. 801

More than 15 different coin references were made by Patek Philippe, one of the rarest being the smaller ref. 801 found within a $10 USD gold coin. Fewer than 200 examples were ever made of all Patek Philippe coin watches with only 40 surfacing to date. Of these 40 examples, only five examples are known that were found within the $10 USD coin. The presently offered watch, accompanied by its Extract from the Archives, has an attractive sunburst gilt dial with painted Roman numerals. Historically, the $10 coin watch holds a special meaning for the Stern family who own Patek Philippe as Philippe Stern symbolically tossed his son, Thierry Stern a similar coin watch to announce that he was to become the next president of the company.
