PATEK PHILIPPE ‘BETA 21’ REF. 3587J
A landmark design in the history of watchmaking, this well-preserved example features the highly desirable strap version. Most notably, this is only the second Patek Philippe ref. 3587 seen by Collectability with original factory lugs. Together with its original gilt dial, this Beta 21 is a pleasure to wear and a bold statement of 1970s Patek Philippe horology.
The two-piece cases of the ref. 3587 were made by Atelier Réunis (case maker mark 28). At 43 mm, these were the largest wristwatches made by Patek Philippe in the 20th century. It was not until the dawn of the 21st century that we started to see cases of this size and larger from Patek Philippe. Atelier Réunis made some of the most important cases for the manufacture and it is an interesting footnote to history that the Atelier Réunis workshop was located in the same Geneva building where the Patek Philippe Museum is now housed.
