The ref. 3589 represents the dawn of a new era. This is the first automatic Patek Philippe reference to utilize the automatic LeCoultre-based caliber 28-255. When launched in 1970, this reference was designed to house the caliber 28-255, the thinnest and best automatic movement available. This is the same caliber used for the first Nautilus when it was released in 1976. A wide selection of Roman numeral dials were available for the ref. 3589 as well as stone dials, most commonly turquoise and onyx. This example features the unusual gilt dial with Roman numerals.
