PATEK PHILIPPE WHITE GOLD REF. 2526G
When first released, the ref. 2526 was aggressively marketed and sold through retailers around the world. Originally retailing for 500 USD, this reference was an instant success due to its unique design and technical innovations.
According to a Patek Philippe ad at the time, ‘In this model, attention has been focused on obtaining a thinner watch – without forfeiting any of the protective qualities… A different case and dial construction has accomplished this, and the result is very gratifying.’
It is a extreme rarity to find a white gold example with a well preserved case and its original diamond and white gold baton dial. The presently offered example also includes a a very important bonus, a period correct enamel dial that you can see here picture on the watch. Approximately 60 examples were made in white gold during the entire production run making white gold the rarest of all metals. Only 23 examples of white gold 2526s are known and only 7 examples display the diamond dial.
Accompanied by a Patek Philippe Extract from the Archives confirming the production of the present watch with this diamond-set silvered dial in 1955 and its subsequent sale on October 31, 1956.
