PATEK PHILIPPE PLATINUM REF. 5004P
The ref. 5004 was released in 1994 and was the larger diameter (0.7 mm larger to be exact) split-seconds perpetual chronograph counterpart to the perpetual chronograph ref. 3970. The ref. 5004 was also thicker than the ref. 3970, 15 mm compared to 12.8 mm thick thanks to the split-second bridge. The end result is a complicated, modern, horological marvel that is now considered one of the most important and desirable complicated Patek Philippe watches ever made. And for good reason, when you wear a ref. 5004, you send a statement that you know perfection when you see it, and you have the means to afford perfection. The knowing eye easily notes the Arabic numerals seen on regular production ref. 5004s as opposed to the batons that are typically seen on regular production ref. 3970s. But it is the function of the split-seconds that truly takes one’s breath away. When engaging the 30 mm Nouvelle Lemania caliber CHR 27-70Q that was fully-finished in-house at Patek Philippe, one is able to experience perfection as clearly as one can see it. The cases for this masterpiece were made by Guillod in La Chaux-de-Fonds with a case reminiscent of the ref. 2499 with their signature ridged lugs. This example is direct from the original owner and is complete with its second caseback in platinum, box, stylus and large format leather instruction booklet with its Certificate of Origin. For a fully complete, best of the best, top condition, unpolished ref. 5004P, this watch is for you.
