The ref. 3848 Ellipse was launched in 1976 and stayed in production until 1998. It replaced the earlier Ellipse ref. 3648. The cases were made by Favres Perret and it utilized a caliber 215 (unlike the ref. 3648 that had cases made by Baumgartner and a caliber 23-300). A close look at the buckle of this shows the bracelet maker was JPE (Jean-Pierre Ecoffey), the celebrated Genevan bracelet atelier (later headed by the one and only Jean-Pierre Hagmann). This example is accompanied by its original box and Certificate of Origin confirming the watch was born with this exquisite blued gold dial. Bracelet length; 7.5 inches.
