PATEK PHILIPPE STEEL HUNTER CASE POCKET WATCH
This may be the earliest known steel hunter case Patek Philippe watch ever made. (If you know of an earlier one, please let us know!) Based on the archive we just received, we were excited to learn that this steel hunter was cased by Patek Philippe in 1940. Originally born with a gold case in 1911, this was re-cased in 1940 in the steel case as described on the Extract from the Archives. The 19 ligne movement and porcelain enamel dial with hand painted Breguet numerals found its new home in this massive 51 mm steel hunter case. It is unlike any other Patek Philippe known and this important piece of history can be yours. We can all speculate why this case changed from gold to steel in 1940, and we may never know why – but we’re glad the owner did it!
