PATEK PHILIPPE GOLD AND RUBY, REF. 3409J
Introduced in 1958 and made only for 4 years, the ref. 3409 is the ultimate expression of Patek Philippe’s modern design aesthetic of the era led by Gilbert Albert, the award winning and celebrated design director of Patek Philippe in the late 1950s. The ref. 3409, originally intended as a men’s watch, features a hand engraved and textured gold bracelet and gold dial that is further set with 12 rubies. A close investigation of the dial reveals something that can only be described as a masterpiece of mid-century dial making that closely resembles the work seen with Gilbert Albert’s Ricochet collection of the same era. The caliber 9-90 is brilliantly housed within the Markowski produced case. Only eight examples of this important reference have surfaced to date, and this near-mint example features its original full length bracelet
