PATEK PHILIPPE CALATRAVA REF. 2508R
The ref. 2508R was first launched in 1950 and is considered one of the most desirable of mid-century time-only water resistant references. It was made with both sub-seconds and sweep-seconds as we can see with the presently offered examples. The dial is engraved-enamel and is elegantly signed Fab. Suisse under 6 o’clock indicating that this watch was originally made for the French market. The inside case back is further signed Fab. Suisse with French hallmarks. With a screw-back case made by Taubert, this 35 mm watch is a comfortable to wear, collector’s-grade specimen quality watch. The dial features elegant, faceted and pointed batons and bold dauphine hands. This crisp example was made over 60 years ago and still as beautiful today as it was when it was first sold. With over 1000 examples of all ref. 2508s believed to have been made, only 27 examples in rose gold are known to still exist.
