Watches and Accessories
Let me repeat, and forgive the pun that Patek Philippe pocket watch repeaters are the ultimate value buy of our era. This is a stunning, fresh-to-market example of early 20th century that represents the highest level of Patek Philippe watchmaking. Every part of this watch exemplifies this point. The dial is a masterpiece – hand painted radial numbers in black enamel with the five-minute markers painted in red. The subsidiary dial is gently sunken and bevelled which reveals that this is a two-piece dial, a dial made with the greatest attention to detail by Patek Philippe. The hand engraved gold hands are the icing on the cake. The massive 49 mm case is equally impressive and exceptionally well preserved. Take a close look at how Tiffany & Company was hand engraved on the cuvette of this watch as well as the original owner’s hand. It is nearly impossible to find an engraver that can match this work today. And the movement, every screw and every part is hand polished and finished to the highest standard of the era. The result – the minute repeating is as clear and beautiful as the day the watch was first bought at Tiffany. Indeed, the first owner of this watch demanded the highest standard. Henry M. T. Beekman was a lawyer from New Jersey and a charter member of the Holland Society and University Club of New York. He graduated from Rutgers University in 1877.
If you are looking for your first Patek Philippe minute repeater for your collection that has some New York and New Jersey flavor to it, this is the one to own.
