PATEK PHILIPPE WHITE GOLD HORIZONTAL ELLIPSE WITH HOBNAIL BEZEL, REF. 3581/1G
The Patek Philippe Ellipse was ‘born’ in 1968 and has been a celebrated icon of Patek Philippe ever since. Its design is inspired by the Golden Section, the ‘divine’ proportion of the ratio 1 to 1.6181 which is the founding design principle seen in art, architecture and nature. It is not often that we find an Ellipse we have never seen before. Here we have a ref. 3581/G, a horizontal Ellipse with a twist – a hobnail bezel. Its rarity is even further underlined by the fact it is made in white gold, not the more common yellow gold. It is the most Patek of Patek designs from the 1970s. Small in size but big in personality.
