The ref. 3580A is one of the most unusual and forward-looking wristwatches Patek Philippe produced in the 1970s. Defined by its oval case, enlarged brushed bezel, and concealed winding crown set into the back of the case, the reference captures the experimental spirit of the period while remaining unmistakably Patek Philippe. Introduced in 1972, the ref. 3580A is widely regarded as the only stainless steel back-wound wristwatch ever made by the manufacture, making it a fascinating outlier within the brand’s history.
Powered by the self-winding caliber 350, the watch combines its unconventional design with a technically intriguing movement architecture. The reference was offered with either a silvered or blue dial, both fitted with applied steel baton markers and sweep center seconds, housed in a robust water-resistant case measuring approximately 35 mm wide by 40 mm overall length.
