PATEK PHILIPPE PLATINUM JUMBO ELLIPSE REF. 5738P
Collectability can’t get enough of these — and it seems like the market is figuring it out too! Although this platinum Ellipse is still in production, they are not easy to find, or even order. Could this be the beginning of a new era for the Ellipse? We think so. The Patek Philippe Ellipse was ‘born’ in 1968 and has been a celebrated icon of Patek Philippe ever since. Designed after the Golden Section that was discovered by ancient Greek mathematicians, the ‘divine’ proportion of the ratio 1 to 1.6181 is the founding design principle seen in art, architecture and nature.
This model is the modern interpretation of the Ellipse. The jumbo-sized ref. 5738P has been in the line since 2008 and features a platinum case with the classic blued gold dial. Fitted with an automatic caliber 240, this massive watch is comfortable to wear as a dress watch, or with jeans. This pre-owned example is as new and complete with box and papers.
